Sher-Wood CHL Player & Goaltender of the Month Announced

Central Hockey League Northern Conference All-Stars Travis Clayton from the Wichita Thunder and Tyler Weiman of the Colorado Eagles have been selected as the recipients of the Sher-Wood CHL Player and Goaltender of the Month awards for December, 2004. Clayton led the CHL with 10 goals during December, while Weiman continued his exceptional rookie season with nine victories, including two shutouts, in December. Both players will receive a custom designed leather from Sher-Wood, the official stick, glove, pant and protective equipment supplier to the CHL.
Clayton has been remarkably productive this season for Wichita, currently riding a 13-game point streak after a 14-game point stretch earlier this season. During December he recorded eight multiple point outings, and with six points in two January games has moved atop the CHL scoring race with 51 points, tied with linemate and fellow All-Star Jason Duda. The teammates shared the CHL scoring lead in the month of December with 22 points each. Behind the exceptional production, Wichita went 9-3-1 in the month to help open up an eight point lead in the Northwest Division.
Rookie goaltender Weiman has been superb for Colorado in his first season of play, and posted a mark of 9-1-1 in December with a goals against average of just 1.73 and a save percentage of .942. Weiman recorded a pair of shut-outs in the month, blanking both Tulsa and Amarillo to give him a CHLâhigh total of five on the year. Weiman's strong play has him currently leading all CHL netminders with a 1.63 goals against average and a .943 save percentage. A 5th Round Draft Pick by the Colorado Avalanche in 2002, Weiman was also named CHL Goaltender of the Week in Week Four this season.
