SOUTHAVEN, Miss. -- On Saturday March 2nd, the Mississippi RiverKings will raise awareness for Pediatric Brain Cancer on "Pray for Ava Night" when the 'Kings take on the Fayetteville FireAntz at 7:05 p.m. at the Lander's Center.

There will be a $5 discount on every ticket price, with $3 of every ticket benefiting local pediatric brain cancer efforts, including the joint St. Jude Children's Research Hospital/Le Bonheur Children's Hospital pediatric brain tumor program at Le Bonheur.

Ava Roten, a now five-year old patient at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and her family are serving as spokesfamily for the special night, named after the "Pray for Ava" Facebook page set up in her honor.

Ava has been diagnosed with a tumor so rare that it doesn't fit into any official pediatric brain tumor category. Ava's father, Brandon Roten, said the tumor is most commonly found in adults.

"It's a mixed tumor with features of two different cancers," Roten said. "'High-grade brain tumor' probably best describes it. The fact that it showed up in a four-year-old is very rare."

Pink Heals Memphis/Mid-South will also be in attendance with the Pink Fire Truck to show their support. The Pink Fire Truck will be parked at the West Entrance for female survivors of cancer and their families to view and to sign.

To purchase tickets to the game and support the fundraiser and awareness campaign, call Whitley Rives at the RiverKings office, 662.342.1755.
