(Laredo, TX) - The Mississippi RiverKings rallied in the third period with a trio of goals for a 5-3 victory against the Laredo Bucks, a victory that stopped Laredo's five-game winning streak.

The game was a reunion of sorts for former RiverKings Rick Kozak and Sebastien Centomo, and for former Bucks Matt Summers, Bobby Chaumont, and Kevin Beech.

Kozak burned his old team twice in the first period, once with an unassisted goal at 11:26 to tie the game at 1-1, and the second time in the final minute of the first frame with a power play goal at 19:06 for a 2-1 Laredo lead.

Mississippi opened the game with a power play goal from Darrell Stoddard, assisted by Garrett Larson, at 1:47 of the first session. The goal was Stoddard's second goal and second power play goal of the year.

The RiverKings tied the game in the second period with a shorthanded blast from Chaumont that Centomo failed to catch up with. The unassisted goal came at the 13:06 mark of the middle frame for a 2-2 tie.

But, for the second straight period, Laredo scored in the final minute of the frame, as Jeff Bes scored his first power play goal of the season, and fourth overall, for a 3-2 lead after forty minutes of play.

The third period belonged to the RiverKings, starting with an unassisted goal from Matt Pierce at 3:04, a goal that tied the game at 3-3. It was Pierce's third goal of the season.

The RiverKings took a 4-3 lead when Dane Marshall scored the eventual game-winning goal on assists from Pierce and Dallas Costanzo at 5:52.

Mississippi finished up the scoring when Chaumont scored his second goal of the game, beating Centomo at 18:36, assisted by Summers and Jeff Nelson for the final 5-3 result.

The RiverKings outshot the Bucks 31-22 for the contest, putting 14 shots on net in the final period. Winning goaltender Kevin Beech made 19 saves in posting his ninth win (9-5-0) of the year. Centomo made 26 saves in having his season record fall to 7-4-0.

Mississippi scored once on the power play in six tries, while Laredo was 2-for-6 with the man advantage.

Also of note from tonight's game; defenseman Derek Landmesser played in his 450th career game as a member of the Mississippi RiverKings. Landmesser holds the team all-time record for appearances, having 435 prior to the start of the season.

The next home games for the RiverKings will be December 12th and 13th in a two-game set against the Texas Brahmas at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven, beginning at 7:05 PM each night. Friday's game will be "Military Night" to salute area servicemen and women. For ticket information, contact the RiverKings at 662-342-1755 today!
