(Southaven, MS) -- When Derek Landmesser suits up tonight, November 25th with the Mississippi RiverKings for the game against the Laredo Bucks, the veteran defenseman will be doing so for the 450th time in a Memphis/Mississippi uniform.

The 6-1, 200 pound native of Thunder Bay, Ontario entered the 2008-09 season as the all-time RiverKing record-holder for appearances at 435. Tuesday's game will be the 15th appearance of the year for the Mississippi captain, having only missed a game in Bossier-Shreveport on October 25th with an injury.

Next in line on the all-time list is Don Parsons, who played in 367 games for the RiverKings from 2000-2006.

Landmesser's career began with the 2000-2001 season and continued from 2002 to today. He was a member of the Memphis RiverKings' second straight Ray Miron President's Cup championship team at the end of the 2002-03 season.

In addition to his 435 Central Hockey League appearances with the RiverKings, Landmesser has also played in the Colonial Hockey League (17 games with Thunder Bay), United Hockey League (274 games with Thunder Bay, Rockford, and Muskegon), International Hockey League (11 games with Manitoba), and three games in the American Hockey League with the Toronto Marlies.

Among the highlights of Landmesser's hockey career in the Mid-South include his selection as CHL Defenseman of the Year in 2001 and three times being chosen to the all-CHL team (2004-05, 2005-06, and 2006-07).

Landmesser is third on the team's all-time list for points scored with 426 (including season statistics for this season), which also puts him atop the RiverKings list for points by a defenseman. Derek set a record for single-season points by a defenseman with 81 in the 2005-06 campaign.

He is first in all-time Memphis/Mississippi assists with 352 and is tied for second all-time in RiverKing penalty minutes with 743.

Landmesser led the RiverKings in points at the end of the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons (81 in 05-06 and 62 in 06-07) and paced the team in assists for four straight seasons, from 2003-2007).

Mississippi is in the midst of its longest road trip of the season, eight games, and comes into tonight's game with Laredo with an 8-7-0 record, good for third place in the Northeast Division of the Central Hockey League.

The RiverKings will be back home to meet the Texas Brahmas in a two-game set on December 12th and 13th at the DeSoto Civic Center. Both games begin at 7:05 PM. Ticket information is available by contacting the RiverKings at 662-342-1755 today!
