Mississippi RiverKings News Release
SOUTHAVEN, Miss. -- The Mississippi RiverKings (10-6-1) snapped a three-game losing streak and Matt Krahn recorded his second shutout of the season as they blanked the Bloomington Thunder (4-11-0) 2-0 on home ice Sunday afternoon.
The RiverKings got the scoring started early. Daniel Sobotka's slap shot from the blueline found it's way past B.J. O'Brien on the power play to give the RiverKings a 1-0 lead 5:52 into the first period.
After a scoreless second period, the RiverKings capitalized on a late odd-man rush. Matt Whitehead ripped a Todd Hosmer pass to the back of the net to seal the 2-0 victory for the RiverKings.
Matt Krahn (6-1-1) stopped all 29 shots against for his second shutout of the season. B.J. O'Brien (1-3-0) turned aside 28 of 30 shots against in the loss. The RiverKings went 1-5 with the man-advantage while killing off all ten penalties against.
