RiverKings score five goals in ending four game losing streak

HIDALGO---The Memhpis RiverKings put together a full 60 minutes of hockey in their 5-1 victory over the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees in Hidalgo, Texas on Friday night. The win snapped a four game skid for the RiverKings and at the same time sent the Bees to their sixth straight loss.

The ‘Kings got goals from five different players as they reversed a trend of lack of scoring on the road. The team entered the game just 2-6 on the road averaging just 2 goals a game in those 8 road games. Don Parsons had a 4 point night (1g/3a). Phil Aucion had his second straight three point game with a goal and 2 assists. The other Memphis goal scorers were Brad Mueller, Jeff Cameron and Ken Goetz. The RiverKings built a 1-zip lead after one, a 3-0 lead after two and built a 4-0 advantage in the third before Rio Grande Valley got on the board. Memphis showed improvement in the special teams department, going 3 for 6 on the power play and holding the Bees to 0 for 5 when they had the man advantage.

David Lemanowicz was the winning goaltender, stopping 36 of the 37 shots he faced. This long road trip will finally come to an end for the RiverKings with their game tomorrow night at Laredo as they face the defending President's Cup Champs at 7:30. With a win, the RiverKings can finish with a 4-4 record on the trip. Tomorrow night's game will be on 96.1fm WYYL with pregame coverage starting at 7:15.
