SOUTHAVEN --- The Memphis RiverKings of the Central Hockey League today put rookie defenseman Nick Fouts on the 45-day IR and signed fifth year defenseman Derek McKinlay to take his spot on the roster. Fouts suffered a shoulder injury in the RiverKings' 4-1 win over Austin on Tuesday and his placement on the IR will be retroactive to that date.

Fouts had played in all 22 games for Memphis, assisting on two goals and accumulating 11 penalty minutes. McKinlay played the last two seasons with the Huntsville Havoc of the SPHL, but is no stranger to the CHL. Prior to taking a season off in 2003-2004 and then signing with the Havoc last season, the Port Franks, Ontario native played for Bossier-Shreveport, Corpus Christi, El Paso and Amarillo during his pro career.

In 14 games with the Havoc this season, McKinlay picked up two assists and 25 PIM.

McKinlay will be in uniform when the RiverKings host the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs this Friday night at 7:05
