Laredo Bucks News Release
LAREDO, Texas - The Laredo Bucks went 1-1-1 this past weekend. The Bucks beat the Austin Ice Bats 5-2 on Friday night in Laredo. Saturday the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees beat the Bucks 2-1 at the Laredo Entertainment Center, ending the Bucks CHL high seven game home win streak. On Sunday the Bucks fell 5-4 in overtime at the Dodge Arena to the Killer Bees. The Bucks are home this Friday against the Austin Ice Bats. Face off set for 7:30 p.m. and fans can take advantage of four tickets for forty dollars. 2005-06: This is the third of eight meetings this year, four match ups will come at the LEC. The Bucks beat the Ice Bats 4-2 on 11/10 in Austin as forward James Hiebert had a goal and two assists. On 12/16 the Bucks beat Austin 5-2 powered by a pair of Chris Grenville goals.
2004-05: Laredo was 7-4-0 against the Ice Bats. The Bucks were 2-3-0 at the Bat Cave.
All-time: Laredo is 20-12-1 against Austin. The Bucks are 13-4-1 at the LEC and 7-8-0 at the Bat Cave. The teams met in the 2003 Southern Conference Finals with Austin beating the Bucks 4-2.
NEMISIS ON THE PENALTY KILL
- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees have scored multi power play goals against the Bucks in seven of eight games played between the teams. RGV is 15-70 (21.4 %) on the power play against Laredo. Overall Laredo has allowed 37 total power play goals against, 40.5 % have been scored by RGV.
BUCKS HOME WIN STREAK ENDS
- The Bucks CHL high seven game home win streak came to an end last Saturday night with a 2-1 loss to RGV. Laredo is now 10-2-0 at the LEC.
POWER OUTAGE?
- Laredo hadn't scored on the power play in three straight games until last Friday night. The Bucks streak extended to 0-20, until Paul Elliott scored on the man advantage last Friday night against Austin. Prior to Elliot scoring the Bucks last power play goal came on 12/03 vs. BOS. The Bucks have now scored in three straight games on the man advantage, going 4-25 over the last three contests.
PRIME TIME STAT
- The Bucks suffered their first loss of the season when allowing two goals or less when they fell 2-1 last Saturday night to RGV. Laredo is now 13-1-0 this season when allowing two goals or less. The Bucks are 2-7-3 when allowing three goals or more.
LOT OF RUBBER
- The Bucks gave up 43 shots to RGV this past Sunday in a 5-4 overtime loss. The 43 shots was a season high allowed by Laredo. Thru regulation RGV had 39 shots, tying the 39 Colorado had on 10/21 against the Bucks.
BONUS CANTOS IS HAPPENING THIS YEAR
- Last year the Bucks went to overtime or a shootout a CHL low three times, going 0-1 in overtime and 0-2 in shootouts. This season the Bucks have already gone to overtime five times in the first 26 games. The Bucks are 1-2 in sudden death and 1-1 in shootouts after falling 5-4 in sudden death at RGV this past Sunday.
BAD PERIOD
- Laredo was out shot 22-7 this past Sunday in RGV in the second period. The 22 shots allowed tied the Bucks franchise record for most shots in a period, last done on 12/26/04 against Corpus Christi.
RED HOT
- Bucks forward / defenseman Serge Dube has points in his last seven games and in 21 of his last 23.
HELPING HANDS
- Bucks forward Frank Lukes dished out four assists in a 5-2 win over Austin last Friday. The Bucks franchise record is five assists in a game held by Jeff Bes, Serge Dube and Dave Gove.
THREE-IN-THREE
- Laredo plays nine three-in-threes this year. The Bucks have a 5-5-2 cumulative record in three-in-threes, including 0-3-1 in the last game of a three-in-three.

- 12/18/05 - SUNDAY - @ RIO GRANDE VALLEY- The Laredo Bucks fell 5-4 in sudden death overtime as Aaron Phillips scored a pair of goals, including the game winner in overtime on Sunday night at the Dodge Arena in front of 4,909 fans. The Bucks picked up a point despite trailing going to the third period for the fourth time this season. Laredo is now 15-8-3 with a Southeast Division and Southern Conference best 33 points. David Lemaonwicz allowed five goals on 43 shots and fell to 4-1-1. Evan Lindsay stopped 35 of 39 shots and improved to 9-6-1. The Bucks were 2-7 on the power play while Rio Grande Valley was 2-10. FINAL SCORE Rio Grande Valley 5, Laredo 4 in sudden death overtime.

- 12/17/05 - SATURDAY - vs. RIO GRANDE VALLEY- The Laredo Bucks fell 2-1 to the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees on Saturday night at the Laredo Entertainment Center. The loss ended the Bucks seven game home win streak and dropped them to 15-8-2. Laredo still leads the Southeast Division and Southern Conference with 32 points. Dov Grumet-Morris stopped 27 of 29 shots, but fell to 4-2-1. Terry Dunbar allowed just one goal on 25 shots and got the win to improve to 3-4-0. FINAL SCORE Rio Grande Valley 2, Laredo 1.

- 12/16/05 - FRIDAY - vs. AUSTIN ICE BATS- The Laredo Bucks got a pair of goals by forward Chris Grenville as they beat the Austin Ice Bats 5-2 in front of 4,913 fans at the Laredo Entertainment Center on Friday night. The Bucks have won two of the last three as they improved their Southeast Division and Southern Conference best mark to 15-7-2 with 32 points. David Lemanowicz stopped 24 of 26 to get the win and improve to 4-1-0. Matt Barnes allowed five goals on 38 shots and took the loss to fall to 3-9-1. FINAL SCORE Laredo 5, Austin 2.
