Mississippi RiverKings News Release

Memphis RiverKings left-winger Don Parsons and defenseman Derek Landmesser were named to the CHL All-Star Game starting lineup for the Northern Conference for the Jan. 23 game in Oklahoma City.

Parsons received the league's Most Valuable Player award last year. Parsons currently leads the RiverKings and the league in scoring with 27 goals and 53 points. He's also rung up 26 assists and a +19 plus/minus rating so far. He scored two goals and one assist in last year's All-Star Game and said he's looking forward to the experience this year.

"I feel fortunate to be selected to the team twice," Parsons said. "It was a lot of fun last year and this year should be even better."

Landmesser has six goals, 26 assists, 32 points and is among the league leaders in plus/minus. In addition, he's one of the most feared body checkers in the league.

"I'm really excited about this opportunity," Landmesser said. "It's an honor to compete with so many great players."

Also named to the Northern Conference starting lineup are forwards Todd Marcellus of the Tulsa Oilers and Travis Clayton of the Wichita Thunder; defenseman Hardy Sauter of the Oklahoma City Blazers. Goaltender Rod Branch from Tulsa rounds out the Northern starters. Gary Unger of the Tulsa Oilers will coach the Northern team.

In the Southern Conference, the league named forwards Eric Schneider of the Laredo Bucks, Chris Richards of the New Mexico Scorpions, Blaz Emersic of the Lubbock CottonKings; defensemen Michel Periard of Laredo and Scott Hillman of the Odessa Jackalopes; and goaltender Matt Barnes of the Austin Ice Bats to the starting lineup. Brent Hughes of Austin will coach the Southern team.

The All-Star Game will be Thursday, Jan. 23 at Oklahoma City's new Ford Center. The festivities will start with the skills competition at 6 p.m. with the game to follow at 7:15 p.m. For more information contact the RiverKings office at 662-342-1755 or visit the Web at www.centralhockeyleague.com.
