RiverKings Fall to Huntsville in OT

Huntsville, AL - The Mississippi RiverKings fell in overtime in a heartbreaker to the Huntsville Havoc 4-3.

The RiverKings did not wait long to get the scoring started as Jeff Topilko ripped a shot from the faceoff circle to beat Kevin Beech blocker side just 12 seconds into the game. Seven minutes later, Brandon Bullett added the second goal, his first as a RiverKings, as he lifted a Leland Fidler rebound over Beech to give the 'Kings a two goal lead. After that goal, Beech was lifted for backup Matt Hache.

The RiverKings picked up an insurance marker in the second period on the power play as Ken Selby slid a puck through the legs of Hache to give the 'Kings a 3-0 lead.

The third period was all Huntsville as they scored three goals to tie it up. Joey Pell scored his first goal as a member of the Havoc just 2:08 into the third period on a 3-1 on David Wilson. Then, Dennis Sicard hammered home a rebound at the 5:12 minute mark of the final frame. Then, with Hache on the bench and the Havoc on a 5-3 power play, Ryan Kretzer tipped in a shot from the point to tie the game up at three with just seconds left to go in regulation.

The RiverKings started overtime on the penalty kill and it took just 18 seconds for Kretzer to tip in a Glenn Detulleo pass over the shoulder of Wilson to give the Havoc the 4-3 win in overtime.

The win dropped David Wilson to 7-4-2 on the season as he stopped 27 of 31 shots against. Matt Hache took the win, as he allowed one goal in relief of Kevin Beech, improving to 2-5-0.
