Mississippi RiverKings News Release
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - One night after shutting out the Knoxville Ice Bears 3-0, it was the RiverKings on the wrong side of the shutout falling to the Havoc, 4-0 on the road.
In a mostly scoreless first period, Huntsville would take the lead with only 7 seconds left thanks to a fluke play. While trying to set up a final rush for the period, Cody Walsh lost an edge allowing Huntsville's Christian Powers to take it and bury the wrap around past Tyler Green.
Despite a strong showing to the second period, the usually stellar RiverKings penalty kill took a hit. Walking up the left wing board, SPHL veteran Stuart Stefan rocketed a shot from above the circle that blew past everyone including Tyler Green to give the Havoc a 2-0 lead. The home team Havoc added to their lead in the second by springing free Justin Fox who scored on a breakaway with 5:11 left to go in the period.
Starting the third period on the penalty kill, the RiverKings were able to outlast the infraction and continued to get quality chances. They couldn't solve the enigma of Mike DeLaVergne who knocked aside every RiverKings shot. The icing on the cake came later in the third when the newest Havoc player Stephen Hrehoriak buried a chance on a 2-on-1 and sealed the game at 4-0.
Despite the loss, RiverKings goaltender Tyler Green turned away 39 shots in a hectic night for the RiverKings netminder.
