SOUTHAVEN, Miss. - The two-time defending CHL champion Memphis RiverKings were assigned defenseman David Turon today, as the team prepares for a three-game road swing through the heart of the CHL.

Turon, who has played thus far this season for the St. John's Maple Leafs of the AHL, will join the RiverKings on the ice this evening as they take on the Oklahoma City Blazers of the Northwest Division.

Turon, a native of Harivov in the Czech Republic, played four games in St. John's under former RiverKings head coach Doug Shedden. A fourth-round pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Turon accrued 9 points (3G, 6A) and 38 penalty minutes during his time last season with Portland of the Western Hockey League.

With the assigning from St. John's of Turon, the RiverKings were forced to open up a roster spot on defense. The RiverKings have placed Vaclav Zavoral on their suspended list after being told he would return to Europe.

Turon and the RiverKings will take to the ice this evening at 7:35 CST at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City to take on the Blazers, reprising a series that has seen two very close contests, both of which went the way of Memphis. The game marks the first of three consecutive matches for the RiverKings this weekend, who will also travel to Fort Worth and Corpus

Christi.

All 64 RiverKings games can be heard on the Memphis RiverKings Radio Network and Easy 680 WJCE. Pregame will begin at 7:15 CST, as play-by-play host Galen Clavio brings you all the exciting action of Memphis RiverKings hockey.
