Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release

The Pittsburgh Riverhounds look to rebound from a disappointing home stand as they head south for a pair of road matches this weekend.

The Riverhounds square off against the Wilmington Hammerheads on Friday, May 23 at 7:30 p.m. ET at Legion Stadium. This match will be the second meeting between the teams this USL PRO regular season.

The Hammerheads spoiled the Riverhounds home opener on April 12 with a 4-3 victory at Highmark Stadium after a late goal from Joseph Ngwenya was waved off in the game's final seconds. Hammerheads forward Sammy Ochoa knocked home his first two goals of the season during the match while Jose Angulo, Collins John, and Kevin Kerr tallied for the 'Hounds.

It will be the coaching debut for First Team player Niko Katic, who takes the Riverhounds reins on an interim basis after Justin Evans was dismissed as head coach earlier in the week.

"We head into this weekend understanding what we need to accomplish - but also understand there's a new dynamic that's going to have an impact on us mentally and emotionally, " said Katic.

"We're prepared to represent the Club and its fans to the best of our ability." The Riverhounds will be without Anthony Arena, who was recalled to the Houston Dynamo late Wednesday night, but should see midfielder Brian Ownby available for the fixtures.

The Hounds will trek to Charleston on Saturday for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff against the Battery. The two teams battled to a 0-0 at Highmark Stadium on April 26th.

Both games will be streamed on YouTube live.

The Riverhounds will play in the third round of the U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday, May 28 vs RWB Adria at Highmark Stadium.

Tickets for this tournament game are only $8.00. To purchase tickets for the game, visit www.riverhounds.com or call the Highmark Stadium Box Office at 412.325.7241.
