Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release

PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh RIVERHOUNDS® (2-1-1, 7 points) meet the Rochester Raging Rhinos (1-1-1, 4 points) Saturday at Frontier Field at 7:35 p.m. in the first of the teams' four meetings this season. The game will be broadcast live on Pittsburgh Fox Sports Radio 970 AM. An internet broadcast of the game featuring Don Stevens calling the game for Rochester will be available via www.rhinossoccer.com.

The Riverhounds enter the game in first place in the Northeast Division - leading Syracuse by one point. Having doubled their road victories already this season over 2002 with two, the Hounds need to win in Rochester to maintain their lead and to break a four-season streak with no wins at Frontier Field.. In regular-season and playoff games, the Riverhounds are 0-9-1 in Rochester.

Rochester dominates on their home field. Since 1999, the Rhinos have posted a 47-7-4 record at home. They were undefeated at home during the 2001 season.

The Riverhounds take the league's leading scorer, Thiago Martins, and the most potent road offense into the game. The Hounds have scored 10 goals in four games. All of the goals have come on the road. The team has only given up four goals, and goalkeeper Randy Dedini has two shutouts.

Rochester, a typically lower-scoring team, has started slowly this season opening with a 2-2 tie against Atlanta at home and dropping a 3-0 decision to Virginia Beach last Friday on the road. They picked up their first win on Sunday, 2-0, over Atlanta in the second half of their road swing through the south.

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Following the Riverhounds 3-0 win Saturday over Richmond, two players were named to the A-League Team of the Week. Midfielder Ricardo Villar and defender David Wright each received their first honor of the season after tallying goals in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup qualifier.

LINEUP NOTES

Defensive midfielder Jaman Tripoli and midfielder Derek Potteiger will not make the trip to Rochester. Both are still rehabilitating from injuries. Tripoli continues to undergo therapy for a tendon strain in his right foot. Potteiger remains out due to a capsular strain in his right knee he sustained during the game in Atlanta on April 26.

The next regular-season home game for the Hounds is Memorial Day - May 26 - at 3 p.m. against the Kickers in the second leg of Open Cup qualifying. A special Old Fashioned Memorial Day Picnic follows the game. For more information about tickets or official RIVERHOUNDS® merchandise, call 412-381-4625 or visit www.riverhounds.com.
