Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release

The Pittsburgh Riverhounds will host the LA Galaxy II, Saturday, August 2nd at 7:00PM at Highmark Stadium.

The Riverhounds are coming off a disappointing 5-0 road loss to Sacramento Republic FC last Sunday evening. It was not the desired ending to a positive July for the Hounds, who posted a 4-2 record and climbed out of last place in the USL PRO standings for the first time since April.

The Riverhounds will be without star forward Jose Angulo Saturday night after suffering a high ankle sprain and shin contusion in the opening minutes of the Sacramento match. Angulo scored three first-half penalty shots the night before in a 5-2 win over the Real Salt Lake Reserves. Angulo will be re-evaluated Monday and hopes to resume to light training on Tuesday.

The Galaxy II are looking to rebound after their four-game winning streak was snapped with a 3-1 loss to the Harrisburg City Islanders on Wednesday at Skyline Sports Complex in Harrisburg.

The Galaxy II are led by forward Chandler Hoffman, who has 21 points (10G, 1A) in 13 games for the MLS reserve squad.

LA currently sits in 3rd place on the USL PRO table with 37 points and a 11-6-4 record overall.

It's a must-win situation for the Riverhounds if they hope to keep any playoff hopes alive. With a 5-11-5 record, the Hounds are on the outside looking in as they trail the 8th-place OC Blues FC by four points with seven games remaining.

The Riverhounds will get an opportunity to pull closer to the Blues FC next Friday, August 8th with a 7:00pm match at Highmark Stadium.

The game will be streamed LIVE on Youtube.
