Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release
PITTSBURGH - Between Pittsburgh Fox Sports Radio 970 and Fox Sports World, the Pittsburgh RIVERHOUNDS® will have 22 of the 28 regular-season games broadcast live. The team enters into its second season with both media outlets and its fourth season with Chris Shovlin calling the action and former RIVERHOUNDS® midfielder Steve Bell providing the color on radio broadcasts.
The opening trip to Charlotte and Atlanta on April 25 and 26 also open the radio broadcast season followed by the HOUNDS® home opener on May 3. In total, 11 of the 14 away games and nine home games will be broadcast live on radio.
The RIVERHOUNDS® will be featured live on Fox Sports World on two occasions during the 2003 campaign. The first match is June 13 from Claude Robillard Stadium in Montreal against the Impact. The second is live from Bethel Park Stadium on July 25 against the expansion team from Syracuse. Both Fox Sports World games begin at 8 p.m.
The 25-game package on Fox Sports World and Fox Sports Canada features 18 regular-season and two A-League playoff games and championship matches for the A-League, USL Pro Select (formerly D3), Premier Development League and W-League. The Super Y League will be featured in a Finals Highlight Show.
With the exception of the June 18 game at Syracuse, the HOUNDS® remaining seven road games against Northeast Division opponents will be broadcast either on radio or TV.
"We are quite pleased that the RIVERHOUNDS® will be able to provide the majority of their games via live broadcast to our fans," Cliff Gorski, vice president of marketing, said. "This broadcast package will enhance the overall presence of the RIVERHOUNDS® in the Pittsburgh market and around the world through the League's agreement with Fox Sports International. We are also very excited about the return of our broadcast team - Chris Shovlin and Steve Bell. We believe we have the best broadcast team in the league."
