Rockford, IL-The Rockford RiverHawks swept the Eastern Division leader Evansville Otters as they won 3-1 in front of 2,103 fans at Marinelli Field. Rockford scored all three runs in the eighth inning and Tony Pigott's two-run single put the RiverHawks ahead for good. The RiverHawks got good pitching from the combination of Heath Dobyns, Jason Pilkington, and Josh Latimer. They allowed only one run and scattered eight hits. Tod Ewasko (8-3) was saddled with the loss for Evansville. Ewasko gave up two runs on two hits in seven innings of work.
The Florence Freedom will travel to town for a short two-game set beginning tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. It will be RiverHawk Baseball Card Giveaway thanks to Shields State Farm, WTVO, and WROK. It will be another Family Night on Sunday featuring "Dog Days" sponsored by Fox-39, WQFL, and Petco .
