Kings Will Munch For Charity at the Melon Munch 2003

The Kalamazoo Kings will be teaming up with Mr. B's to raise food and funds for the Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes at the 14th annual Melon Munch on Saturday, August 9, 2003. The event aims to raise 2,500 pounds of food for the local food bank, which provides emergency food assistance throughout Kalamazoo County to those in need.

Come watch Kings players Matt Kent, David McWatters, Walt Simmons, Greg Wiltshire and Matt Sheets compete for the title in the Celebrity Munch watermelon-eating contest from 12 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Contestants of all ages can compete for the fastest watermelon eating time in their age category beginning at 1:00 p.m. There will also be drawings for passes and concert tickets, which takes place at 2:00 p.m. All participant are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Loaves and Fishes.

The event will take place, rain or shine, at the new Mr. B's location at 6235 S. Westnedge, a half-mile south of I-94 behind Mackenzie's Bakery.
