
RiverHawks Split With River City

O'FALLON, Mo. â The RiverHawks split a doubleheader with River City losing the first game 5-1 but won the second game 1-0.
The first game was a continuation of last night's game that was suspended because of rain. The game picked up at the top of the fourth inning with River City leading 1-0.
River City's Mike Madrid hit a two-run homerun in the bottom of the sixth breaking a 1-1 tie. Steven Brook got the win for River City pitching five innings giving up only one unearned run and striking out eight batters. Jesen Merle took the loss for the RiverHawks.
In the second game Ryan Larson hit a RBI single for Rockford in the top of the second inning scoring the only run of the game.
Adam Palmer and Josh Latimer combined for a seven inning shutout of River City in the second game. Latimer picked up the win. Daniel Krines took the loss for River City.
Rockford right fielder Rich Austin hit a single in the top of the second of the first game yesterday before the rain started extending his hitting streak to ten games. Austin was 0-3 in the second game ending his hitting streak at ten.
The RiverHawks wrap up the series at River City Wednesday June 2nd at 7:05 p.m. The âHawks return home to Marinelli Field on Thursday June 3rd against Mid-Missouri. The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 12th season.
