The Kalamazoo Kings won the series opener over Richmond, 3-2, in 12 innings Monday night. Casey DeGroote hit a one-out double in the 12th and advanced to third on a single by Justin McClain. Richmond walked Billy Malone to load the bases, then walked Darren Uranga to force home the winning run. McClain and Jason Startari each had three hits in the game. DeGroote had a double and a home run. Daryl Blaze also had a pair of hits. Scott Lawson picked up the win in relief, striking out one in one inning of work. Kalamazoo and Richmond return to action at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday.
