McWatters, Kings shut out Roosters

The Kings took advantage of a strong outing by David McWatters to blank Richmond 3-0 on Tuesday. McWatters (1-1) scattered three hits and struck out 10 in eight complete innings of work. Jake Brooks came on in the ninth and struck out three batters to earn the save. Joe Shallenberger was 2-for-3 and drove in the Kings first run in the second inning. Darryl Blaze also had two hits.
Kalamazoo and Richmond square off again Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.
