
RiverHawks sign rookie pitcher

LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford RiverHawks have signed a rookie pitcher.
The team announced on Saturday that it has signed right-hander Jordan Goldschmidt. Golschmidt played this spring for Butler University. Goldschmidt was 1-1 with a 9.22 earned-run average and no saves in 15 appearances, one as a starter. He struck out 21 and walked 10 in 27 1/3 innings. Goldschmidt transferred from Eastern Michigan after his junior year.
The RiverHawks made room on the roster with the release of pitcher Artie Clyde. He had no record and a 13.50 ERA in two relief appearances.
