
RiverHawks sign new infielder; Cone released

LOVES PARK, Ill. - On Sunday, the Rockford RiverHawks signed infielder Alex Bardeguez. Infielder Aaron Cone was released.
Bardeguez, who has Rookie-2 status, has played for two different independent teams this season. He began 2009 with the Sioux Falls Canaries of the American Association and then signed with the Sussex Skyhawks the Can-Am League. In seven games with the Canaries, he batted .087 with no home runs and one RBI. In his seven-game Skyhawks stint, he hit .250 with no home runs and two RBI.
Cone played 28 games with the RiverHawks and batted .247 with no home runs and 8 RBI.
The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 17th season this summer.
