
RiverHawks fall, 6-4, in 11th

ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Ohio Valley Redcoats rallied for two runs in the top of the 11th inning and went on to beat the Rockford RiverHawks, 6-4, at Marinelli Field.
Pat Sadler tripled home the go-ahead run off reliever Dave Dowling (1-2) and scored an insurance run on Bobby Gilliam's two-out infield hit.
Ohio Valley blew an early 3-0 lead. The RiverHawks rallied for two runs in the seventh, one on Brian Baron's third home run, a solo shot to right field, to make it 4-3. Nick Johnson singled in the tying run in the ninth inning to send the game to extra innings.
Ohio Valley closer Jason Elkins (2-2) blew the save, but lasted 3 2/3 innings and retired the RiverHawks in order in the 11th to get the win.
Luke Lambo, making his first start, struck out a career-high seven in seven innings but got a no-decision.
The rubber match of the three-game series is at 7:05 p.m. Monday. Clodius Jewelers and Hot 105.9 sponsor the Diamond Dig. A diamond ring has been hidden underneath the infield and every lady age 18 and over will have a chance to dig for the ring after the game.
The RiverHawks are the defending champions of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 13th season. All games are broadcasted live on WRHL-FM, 102.3 - the Hub.
