RiverHawks Cough Up Another Big Inning, Lose 8-1

Rockford, IL- The Rockford RiverHawks' recent trend of allowing big innings continued Thursday.

The River City Rascals sent 10 batters to the plate in a five-run second inning and went on to beat the RiverHawks, 8-1, in front of 1,691 at Marinelli Field.

The first four batters of the second inning reached base and scored. James Moreno singled in two runs to break a scoreless tie. Brody Jackson and Mike Madrid added run-scoring singles later in the inning.

Bryan Gale (3-0) scattered four hits and allowed only an unearned run in seven innings to get the win.

Joe Barbosa, making his first start, didn't survive the fifth inning. Five of the eight runs off Barbosa were unearned, as Rockford matched its season worst with five errors.
