Rockford RiverHawks News Release


The Rockford RiverHawks (5-5) opened their three-game road trip with a 7-3 victory over the Kenosha Mammoths. Rockford jumped out to an early lead and Kenosha was not able to close the gap. Rockford second basemen Kiley Vaughn hit a two-run double in the top half of the second inning to give the 'Hawks a 2-1 lead. The RiverHawks then opened up the game in the third on a Tony Pigott RBI single and Dave Bernstine's three-run homer. Barton Vaughn (2-1) picked up the win for Rockford as he pitched five solid innings and Joe Kjose recorded his first save on the season. Todd Leathers was 2-for-4 with two RBI's for Kenosha.

The RiverHawks will be on the road against Kenosha for game two of the series tomorrow night. Jason Shelley will get the start for Rockford against Matt Huffey of Kenosha.
