
RiverHawks' Austin leads league in OBP, walks

LOVES PARK, Ill. - Rockford first baseman Rich Austin finished the RiverHawks' first year in the Northern League as the independent circuit's leader in on-base percentage and walks.
Austin recorded an on-base percentage of .431 and walked a team-record 73 times. Austin set the previous record of 69 in 2004.
The veteran hit a team-leading .296 with nine home runs and 55 RBI in 94 games. Austin had two on-base streaks of more than 20 games.
The RiverHawks are members of the Northern League, an eight-team independent professional baseball league in its 18th season.
