JOLIET, IL - The Joliet JackHammers are pleased to announce that manager, Chad Parker, will return for the 2011 and 2012 seasons, signing a two year extension with the club today. Parker guided the JackHammers to a 53-47 regular season record in 2010, a 20 win improvement from last year's club.

"I am extremely honored to be asked back to Joliet," commented Parker. "I believe that we can be the premier organization in independent baseball and I am dedicated to do my part in making sure that happens."

Courtesy of an 11-0 win over Gary in the regular season finale, the JackHammers tied a franchise record with 53 wins and captured the first ever I-80 Series Trophy from their rivals in Indiana. The club clinched their second playoff berth and the three seed in the 2010 Northern League playoffs, setting up a first round matchup with the Kansas City T-Bones.

"Chad has proven his ability to put together a championship contending club with the performance of the 2010 JackHammers," said JackHammers Executive Vice President and General Manager Jamie Toole. "Our goal is to maintain this winning culture and participate in the postseason on an annual basis and we feel like having Chad as our manager provides us an excellent opportunity to do so."

The 2010 JackHammers also finished with the second best winning percentage in team history (.530) and eclipsed the 2007 team record of 107 stolen bases with 119. The 53-47 mark is also the third winning record in club history and first since 2004 (49-47).

Loose Gravel: The Joliet JackHammers open the 2010 Northern League playoffs on Wednesday, September 8th at 7:10 p.m. against the Kansas City T-Bones at Silver Cross Field.
