
RiverDogs Hold off Claws 4-3 on Thursday

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Charleston held off the BlueClaws 4-3 on Thursday at FirstEnergy Park in the finale of their three game series.
The RiverDogs (14-20/51-53) took the final game of the series after the BlueClaws (12-20/41-61) had taken the first two.
Lakewood started the ninth with a walk to Abrahan Gutierrez, the tying run. Rafael Marchan flew to centerfield before Keegan Curtis came on. Curtis got Malvin Matos to ground to third before Seth Lancaster struck out looking to end the game. Curtis earned the save in his BlueClaws debut.
Tim Hardy (1-0) gave up one run in 2.1 innings of relief to earn the win.
The BlueClaws tied the game at two in the third with two runs. The first came on an RBI triple from Jonathan Guzman and the second on a SAC fly by Luis Garcia.
Charleston took the lead off Francisco Morales (1-5) in the sixth on a groundout by Eric Wagaman and added a run in the seventh on an RBI single from Brandon Lockridge for a 4-2 lead. Morales allowed two runs in three innings to take the loss.
Lakewood got a run in the seventh on a Ben Pelletier groundout to cut the lead to 4-3.
Omar Maldonado threw a scoreless ninth for the BlueClaws in his FirstEnergy Park debut.
The BlueClaws were held to just three hits in the loss, two by Malvin Matos. Matos has two hits in four straight games.
Lakewood starter Victor Santos gave up two runs over five innings and got a no-decision.
Roasny Contreras started for Charleston and gave up two runs in six innings, walking three and striking out seven. He did not factor in the decision.
The BlueClaws open a four-game series with Greenville on Friday night at 7:05 pm.
