
RiverDogs Catcher Kyle Higashioka Placed on DL

CHARLESTON, SC - The New York Yankees announced Wednesday that Charleston RiverDogs catcher Kyle Higashioka has been placed on the 7-day disabled list, retroactive to July 23.
Higashioka has appeared in 83 games for the team thus far this season, with 56 starts at catcher and 27 as DH. The Huntington Beach, Calif. native is currently batting .219 for the year, with 34 runs, 16 doubles, six home runs and 23 RBI. The 20-year-old's six home runs this season rank third on the team. The 6'1" prospect was selected by the Yankees in the seventh round, 230th overall, of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft out of Edison High School( Calif.).
Charleston begins a four-game homestand on Wed., July 28 at 7:05 p.m.against South Atlantic League Southern Division rivals the Greenville Drive, the Single-A Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.
