Gnats Dock Doyle Wins First Round Matchup in Moniker Madness

Savannah, GA - Savannah Sand Gnats catcher Dock Doyle won his first round matchup and has advanced to the second round in MiLB.com's fourth annual Minors Moniker Madness bracket tournament. MiLB.com is looking for the best name in minor league baseball. Doyle beat out Chorye Spoone in the first round, and now faces a tough second-round matchup with Brett Butts of the Mississippi Braves to determine who will reach the round of 16.

Fans can cast their votes for Doyle online at MiLB.com, the Official Site of Minor League baseball. There is no limit to the number of times a fan can vote.

The Mets drafted Doyle, now 24 years old, in the fifth round of the 2008 amateur draft out of Coastal Carolina. Doyle's full given name is Charlie Zodock Doyle III. Zodock, which shortened, becomes "Dock," is an old family name.

Past winners of the Moniker Madness Tournament include Dusty Napoleon (2009), Will Startup (2008), and Houston Summers (2007).

The second round of voting on MiLB.com runs through Wednesday, August 1.
