River Plate and Millonarios to Face off in the Duelo de Millonarios Saturday at DRV PNK Stadium

Inter Miami CF is set to host South American powerhouses Club Atlético River Plate and Millonarios F.C. in the Duelo de Millonarios (in English, Millonarios match) this Saturday, Jan. 14 at DRV PNK Stadium.

Tickets to the highly regarded match, set to kick off at 7 p.m. ET at Inter Miami's home, are available now. The friendly at DRV PNK Stadium will match up two of the most successful sides in South American fútbol in River Plate, historic Argentinian giants, and Millonarios, Colombian giants who recently won the 2022 Copa Colombia title. Both sides have made the trip with their strongest squads for the showdown in South Florida; River's traveling expedition is led by head coach and iconic former center back Martín Demichelis, and includes the likes of 2022 World Cup winning goalkeeper Franco Armani, defender Emanuel Mammana, midfielder Enzo Pérez, former MLS star Ezequiel Barco and striker Miguel Borja. Millonarios, meanwhile, made the trip with Colombian international goalkeeper Álvaro Moreno, Costa Rican international center back Juan Pablo Vargas after his participation in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, young midfield star Daniel Ruiz, and the rest of their stars.

Based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Los Millonarios have produced a never-ending list of world beaters that have endeared fans, including Inter Miami's very own Federico and Gonzalo Higuaín, Ballon d'Or winners Alfredo Di Stefano (1957 and 1959) and Omar Sivori (1961), El Principe Enzo Francescoli, Ariel Ortega, Pablo Aimar, Javier Mascherano and, most recently, young exciting prospects such as Julián Álvarez, among many more. River is one of the winningest sides in the history of South American fútbol, having an impressive trophy cabinet that holds 35 Argentine Primera División titles, four CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores titles, a CONMEBOL Copa Sudamericana title, three Argentine Cup titles and many more. The Duelo de Millonarios will be one of the first opportunities for fans to witness the thrilling start of Demichelis era, as the former Argentinian international was named the successor of head coach Marcelo Gallardo following the highly successful manager's decision to step aside at the end of the 2022 season following nine title-filled years.

Millonarios, meanwhile, have totaled 20 titles in club history, making them the second-most winningest side in Colombia, with Los Embajadores counting 15 Colombian First Division titles, a CONMEBOL Copa Merconorte title and three Copa Colombia titles among the silverware in their collection. Some of the top talents that featured for the Colombian side include Inter Miami's young dynamic player Emerson Rodríguez, Di Stefano (1949-53), Venezuelan national team goalkeeper Wuilker Fariñez (2018-2021), and MLS standouts and MLS Cup winners Chicho Arango (2019-2021) and Román Torres (2012-2015).

The Argentine and Colombian teams have both trained at the Club's state-of-the-art Florida Blue Training Center during their 2023 preseason preparations. The 50,000-square-foot training facility in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, boasts six natural grass fields and one turf for the development of professional and youth players.

River Plate Jersey Swap

Earlier this week, Inter Miami and River Plate players met at the Florida Blue Training Center, with a jersey swap between Club midfielder Jean Mota and River Plate stalwart and captain Enzo Pérez taking place ahead of the thrilling Duelo de Millonarios this weekend.
