
River Otters Select Six in 2003 UHL North American Amateur Draft

Head coach/director of hockey operations Mark Reeds of the Missouri River Otters of the United Hockey League (UHL) announced today that the team has selected six players in the 2003 UHL North American Amateur Draft in Rounds One-Six.
Right winger Greg Chambers of the Peterborough Petes of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) was selected in the first round (6th overall). The 5-foot-11, 210-pound native of Toronto, Ontario ranks first on the Petes in goals (39) and second in points (79) through 64 games. He is in his third year of Major Junior "A" hockey.
In the second round (16th overall), the River Otters drafted center Patrice Roy of Concordia University of the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS). The 6-foot, 200-pound native of St. Martine, Quebec tallied 41 points (12g, 29a) in 32 games for the Stingers this season. He also served as team captain.
Defenseman Adam Elzinga of the Peterborough Petes (OHL) was selected in the third round (26th overall). The 6-foot-2, 205-pound native of Burbank, Illinois has posted 11 points (3g, 8a) through 65 games with 36 penalty minutes (PIM). He is in his third year of Major Junior "A" hockey.
In the fourth round (36th overall), the River Otters drafted defenseman Greg Amadio of NCAA Division I Michigan Tech (WCHA). The 6-foot-2, 212-pound native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario had four points in 25 games with 46 PIM during his senior season.
Defenseman Jim DeMone of the Drayton Valley Thunder of the Alberta Junior "A" Hockey League (AJHL) was selected in the fifth round (46th overall). The 6-foot-6, 220-pound native of Neguac, New Brunswick tallied 42 points (15g, 27a) in 54 games with 188 PIM this season. He is a former ninth round selection (283rd overall) in 2000 of the National Hockey League's (NHL) Ottawa Senators.
In the sixth and final round (56th overall), the River Otters drafted goaltender Mike Mole of the Belleville Bulls (OHL). The 6-foot, 190-pound native of Orleans, Ontario is 23-22-5 through 51 appearances this season with a 2.88 goals against average (GAA) and .906 save percentage.
The River Otters host the defending Colonial Cup Champion Muskegon Fury at the Family Arena on Thursday, March 13. Game time is 7:15 p.m. On Friday, March 14, the River Otters will wear special St. Patrick's Day Jerseys when they face off against the rival Rockford IceHogs at the Family Arena. Game time is 7:15 p.m. The jerseys will be auctioned off live after the game with proceeds benefiting Children's Miracle Network. The first 2,000 fans will receive either a River Otters Lonnie Loach Pepsi Poster or a set of U.S. Air Force Thunder Stix.
