Missouri River Otters News Release
St. Charles, MO --- The Missouri River Otters of the United Hockey League are proud to announce they have obtained Cole Bassett from the Quad City Mallards. Bassett is a young winger that spent the end of last season with the Otters.
"Cole will bring tremendous speed and great skill to the table," said River Otters Head Coach Kevin Kaminski. "He's an energetic player, and everyone had good things to say about him from last year."
Bassett, 22, played with the US Junior National Team in 1999-00, scoring 17 goals in 46 games. He then attended Minnesota State University, racking up 31 goals and 37 assists in three years of hockey.
Last season was his first as a pro, and he played seven games with Quad City before joining the Otters. He added a spark of offensive creativity to the Otters last year, scoring eight points in twelve games.
Bassett is expected to be in the lineup as the River Otters take on the Rockford Icehogs Saturday night at the Family Arena. The puck drops at 7:05 in what is the only River Otters game of the weekend.
