Missouri River Otters News Release

Converting three power-play goals, the Missouri River Otters defeated the Port Huron Beacons 3-2 Saturday night at the Family Arena.

The River Otters got the game's first goal, and it came on the power play. After a number of sharp passes, Lars Pettersen freed up Mat Snesrud for a one-timer from the point, and the all-star defenseman smoked a slap-shot behind Beacons goaltender Daniel Berthiaume.

Two second period power-play goals gave Missouri a commanding 3-1 lead going into the final period. The first came on a tic-tac-toe passing play from Snesrud to Pettersen to Barrie Moore, as Moore fired home his 13th goal of the season. The next goal was scored on a nice play by Port Huron's Andrew McPherson, who found a seam between Kevin Reiter's pads to put his squad on the board. The River Otters responded, however, as Bob Rapoza hammered home a power-play slap-shot to give his team a two-goal lead.

The lone goal in the final period was scored off the opening face-off, as Chris Slater caught Reiter by surprise with a top-shelf slap-shot. The River Otters killed off a power play in the final minutes, and got their second consecutive victory. Reiter made 32 saves for his 12th victory of the season, while Berthiaume made 35 saves in defeat. With three points in the game, Snesrud passed Adirondack's Scott Drevitch as the UHL's top scoring defenseman.

The Otters will take on the Kansas City Outlaws Wednesday night at the Kemper Arena. The puck drops at 7:00 CST, and all the action can be heard on KSLQ 104.5 and the River Otters B2 Webcast, which can be found at the River Otters website!
