River Otters Acquire Dombkiewicz From Richmond

St. Charles, MO --- The Missouri River Otters of the United Hockey League are proud to announce that they have traded defenseman Dennis Vial to the Richmond Riverdogs in exchange for defenseman Mike Dombkiewicz.

Dombkiewicz, 25, has scored 7 goals, registered 15 assists, and amassed 59 penalty minutes in 46 UHL games this season. He grew up in Buffalo, NY, and played his junior hockey with the Guelph Storm and the Owen Sound Platers of the Ontario Hockey League. In 1998-99, Dombkiewicz scored 63 points in 66 regular season games for Owen Sound, and added 25 points in 16 playoff games.

“We’ve been struggling a bit on the power play, and we expect Mike to really help us in that department,” River Otters Head Coach Kevin Kaminski said. “He’s also very solid in his own zone and plays with grit.”

The River Otters sent veteran defenseman Dennis Vial to Richmond for Dombkiewicz. Vial, 35, scored 0 goals, registered 4 assists, and piled up 66 penalty minutes in 46 games with the River Otters this year. Vial has played more than 200 games in the NHL, including 36 with the Detroit Red Wings. In 797 professional games, he’s racked up exactly 2,700 penalty minutes.
