
RiverDogs acquire defenseman in trade

Richmond, VA â The Richmond RiverDogs of the United Hockey League have acquired veteran defenseman Dennis Vial from the Missouri River Otters in exchange for defenseman Mike Dombkiewicz. Vial is expected to join the âDogs lineup this weekend when the âDogs host Flint.
Vial, the River Otters captain, had four points and 66 PIM in 46 games with Missouri this season. The former New York Rangers draft pick has 242 games of NHL experience with the Rangers, Detroit Red Wings, and Ottawa Senators. He spent most of the last three seasons with Columbia in the ECHL. Vial twice had 200-plus penalty minute seasons while with the Senators.
Vial joins Francis Belanger as the two RiverDogs with NHL experience. He is a native of Sault Ste. Marie, ON. Vial played junior hockey in the OHL prior to turning pro with Flint of the IHL in 1989. He has been a member of championship teams in the AHL and IHL.
Wednesday, February 9 NASCAR driver and 2004 Rookie of the Year Kasey Kahne will be on hand as the âDogs face the Danbury Trashers at 7:35 PM. The âDogs will wear racing themed jerseys autographed by Kahne that will be auctioned off following the game. There will also be a pre-game VIP party with Kahne.
