River Cats Rally in the Ninth for a 3-2 victory

The Sacramento River Cats rallied to score two runs in the ninth in a comeback 3-2 victory in New Orleans to take Game 2 of the PCL Championship Series. The River Cats return home with a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series with Game 3 to be played on Friday at 7:05 p.m. at Raley Field. The River Cats are now 8-0 in PCL finals games.

Trailing 2-1 in the top of the ninth inning, Jorge Piedra hit a game-tying solo home run. Brant Colamarino, who was called up from Double-A Midland to replace Daric Barton, singled with two outs and scored the go-ahead run on Brian Stavisky's RBI double off the left field wall.

Four of Sacramento's seven hits came in the ninth inning. Lou Merloni hit a solo home run in the first inning to score the River Cats only other run.

Reliever Jerry Blevins, who pitched 1 and 2/3 shutout innings in the seventh and eighth struck out four, earned the win. Michael Madsen started and pitched 6.1 innings, allowing two runs on five hits. Brad Ziegler threw the ninth to earn his second save of the series.
