The New Orleans Zephyrs fell to the visiting Sacramento RiverCats 3-2 in Game 2 of the Pacific Coast League Championship Series.
Left fielder Jorge Piedra hit a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to tie the game at 2-2. The DH Brian Stavisky then had the game-winning hit, doubling to score first baseman Brant Colamarino who had singled in his at bat.
Reliever Carlos Muniz (0-1) gets the loss for New Orleans. Muniz threw one inning and gave up two runs on two hits. He gave up the Piedra home run but was also charged with the final run, as reliever Ryan Cullen gave up the double to Stavisky but Colamarino had singled off Muniz to get on base before Muniz left the game.
Relief pitcher Jerry Blevins (1-0) recorded the win for Sacramento after allowing no hits and no runs in 1.2 innings. Brad Ziegler got his second-straight save after giving up only one hit but no runs on the final inning.
The only runs for the Zephyrs were driven in in the first inning by third baseman Fernando Tatis, who doubled to score lead-off man Anderson Hernandez. First baseman Andy Tracy scored Tatis to complete the scoring for New Orleans.
With the Zephyrs down 0-2 in the best-of-five series, New Orleans will try to avoid the sweep beginning Friday in Sacramento in a game scheduled for 9:05 PM CT
