COLORADO SPRINGS - Every River Cats starting position player reached base safely at least once, but the team fell to the Colorado Springs Sky Sox by a score of 14-6 on Tuesday night at Security Service Field.

The River Cats offense scored six runs after the fifth inning, but they were victims of two big Sky Sox innings. With River Cats starter Dan Straily on the mound, Colorado Springs brought six runners around to score in the third, ending Straily's day after 2.2 innings. After scoring twice more in the sixth, the Sky Sox put together another six-run inning in the seventh, taking a 14-4 lead into the top of the ninth inning.

Sacramento attempted a comeback, scoring once on a Kila Ka'aihue RBI-single, and again when Brandon Inge crossed the plate on a Brandon Wood fielding error. That would be it for Sacramento, however, as they ultimately lost, 14-6.

The River Cats recorded 11 hits, led by Inge, Michael Taylor and Grant Green, all of whom had two hits. Ka'aihue and Jemile Weeks each drove in two runs. Straily suffered the loss, giving up eight hits and six earned runs in 2.2 innings of work, with two strikeouts.

The loss keeps Sacramento's magic number at one with six games left. The River Cats will clinch their sixth-straight division title with a win, or a Las Vegas loss, over the season's final week of the regular season.

The River Cats return to the field on Wednesday at 5:05 p.m. Right-handed pitcher Bruce Billings (7-6, 4.03 ERA) will start opposite Sky Sox righty Rob Scahill (9-11, 5.98 ERA).

The River Cats are poised to capture the PCL Pacific South Division championship, with the 2012 playoff season set to begin on Sept. 5-6 at Raley Field. Playoff tickets are available now at ticketmaster.com, by calling (916) 371-HITS or at Raley Field's Round Table Pizza Ticket Office.
