Redbirds Hold off the Storm Chasers

MEMPHIS, TN - Memphis garnered their seventh shutout of the year with a 5-0 win over Omaha at AutoZone Park Tuesday night.

The Redbirds rallied for four runs in the first inning off Pete Kozma's two-run single, an RBI-double by Vance Albitz and a ground out by Adron Chambers. Kozma drove in another run in the second to cap the 'Birds scoring on the night.

Memphis starter Scott Gorgen earned his first Triple-A win with seven scoreless innings. The right-hander fanned three while scattering two hits and two walks before two Redbirds relievers finished off the shutout. Omaha starter Ryan Verdugo took the loss, giving up five runs on four hits and five walks over just three innings.

The 'Birds and Chasers play tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. John Gast will toe the rubber for Memphis against Omaha's Jake Odorizzi.
