Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release
The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees split a weekend series with the Arizona Sundogs falling in game one before taking game two. The second game was highlighted by 37 saves from Bees goalie John Murray as well as a season high 71 penalty minutes by the team. Arizona returns the trip to the Valley with a pair of games this weekend.

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz.- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (8-6-0) allowed four second period goals as they fell to the Arizona Sundogs (6-7-3) by a 6-4 final on Friday night. The Bees received goals from four different players including the first of the season from Adam Bartholomay.
Saturday at Arizona Sundogs, Win 2-0
PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (9-6-0) defeated the Arizona Sundogs (6-8-3) by a 2-0 score in a penalty filled contest on Saturday night. In addition to the combined 91 penalty minutes called between the two teams Killer Bees goalie John Murray made 37 saves on his way to the shutout. Aaron Lee and Jake Hauswirth recorded goals for the Bees.
BEES NEED TO KNOW
. Lee's a leader; Killer Bees forward Aaron Lee is currently tied for the league lead in goals with 12. Lee has been one of the most consistent forwards in Bees history and currently sits second all-time with 71 career goals with the Bees.
. Forward Aaron Lee signed with the Bees for his fourth season. Lee has previously suited up for 205 games with the Bees and is closing in on the record of 223 held by Bill Newson. Lee is set to tie the record on Jan. 13 against Texas and break it on Jan. 14 also against Texas.
. Mark Kroeze was signed by the Bees on November 5 to serve as an emergency back-up goalie after an injury to Dan Dunn. Kroeze is a Minnesota native who is also is the first-ever McAllen City Urban Forester.
. The Bees have signed an affiliation agreement for the first time in franchise history as the team is now affiliated with the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League and Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League.
. The Killer Bees have now won their first game of the season over the Laredo Bucks in the last two seasons. Last year the Bees opened the season with a victory over Laredo and this season the Bees defeated Laredo 6-3 last Saturday night for their first win of the year.
