Tulsa Oilers News Release

Week In Review: Starting last Tuesday night, the Oilers played four games in five days and finished the grueling stretch with a 1-2-1 record. The week began with a home game against Arizona and the Oilers came back from three goals down on three separate occasions. The Sundogs eventually prevailed in a shootout that took a total of 18 shooters to decide. On Thanksgiving night in Tulsa, Jeff Terminesi had four points (1 goal, 3 assists) and the powerplay unit put up a pair of goals as the Oilers beat Laredo 6-4 for their second win of the year over the Bucks. Friday at the BOK Center, the Oilers fell 4-2 in the front end of a home-and-home series with Wichita. The Thunder got the best of the Oilers on Saturday as well and skated away with another 4-2 victory to even the season series at 3-3.

New Signings Have Immediate Impact: Last week, the Oilers welcomed two new faces to the roster with the addition of forward Troy Ofukany and goaltender Mike Garman. Ofukany, a 24-year old out of Kamloops, British Columbia, scored in his first game in an Oilers sweater with a third period tally on Tuesday night against Arizona. The speedy left-winger added two assists in the next three games and is back in the CHL after spending last season in Sweden. Garman saw his first action Tuesday night when he came on in relief of Ian Keserich in the second period against the Sundogs. The Cornell product made eight saves on nine shots and stopped seven of the nine Arizona shooters in the shootout. Garman made his first CHL start Thursday night against Laredo and made 24 saves to earn his first professional win.

"Power" Back In Powerplay: The Oilers have scored at least one powerplay goal in seven straight games and rank fourth in the CHL with a 22.5 powerplay percentage. During the current seven game streak, Tulsa has scored 14 powerplay goals on 42 opportunities, or one goal for every three powerplays. Rookie defenseman Jeff Terminesi is the catalyst for the Oilers powerplay. The Mississauga, Ontario native leads the CHL in powerplay assists (10) and powerplay points (12).

Fleck Hits Century Mark: In Wichita on Saturday night, defenseman Tyler Fleck played his 100th regular season game for the Oilers. Now in his third season in Tulsa, Fleck has laced up his skates for 664 CHL regular season games, fifth most in league history. Fleck has also suited up for 76 playoff games during his 13-year career in the Central Hockey League and is a two-time CHL All-Star. The 32-year old Oilers captain spent ten seasons in Oklahoma City and won a championship with the Blazers in 2001.

Striking It Rich: Tulsa leads the CHL with 63 goals through 17 games. Despite scoring just four times in the last two contests, the Oilers are pouring in 3.71 goals per game, an average good for second place in the league behind only Allen and Wichita. 39 of the Oilers goals have been registered by rookies with center Mike Ullrich's 12 goal total leading the team and leading the CHL.

Ready For The Road: With the calendar turning to December, the Oilers are preparing to spend a lot of time on the bus. With trips to Wichita, Arizona, Rapid City, and two treks to Bloomington, the Oilers will log 6,446 miles on the road during the last few weeks of 2011.

Upcoming Games: Tulsa plays just four games (2 home, 2 road) over the next two weeks. The Oilers are proud to be partnering with KTUL Channel 8 and the Salvation Army for the annual Teddy Bear Toss on Friday, December 9th. Fans can bring a teddy bear to the BOK Center and toss the bears on to the ice after the Oilers score their first goal against the Americans. All teddy bears will be collected by the Salvation Army and donated to families who need assistance in providing Christmas gifts for their children.

Friday, December 2nd - vs. Bloomington Blaze at 7:35pm (Ladies Night, Hockey Tonk)

Sunday, December 4th - at Wichita Thunder at 5:05pm

Friday, December 9th - vs. Allen Americans at 7:35pm (Teddy Bear Toss, Ladies Night)
