December 22, 2009 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)
Moncton Wildcats News Release
The Wildcats are hard at work setting the stage for the New Year's Eve game against the Saint John Sea Dogs. The puck drops at 7 but the fun begins when the doors open at 6.
The December 31st game is another "Rivalry Cup" game against the Saint John Sea Dogs. The Rivalry Cup is a challenge between 2 QMJHL teams. Points are awarded based on game-wins, game-attendance, a food-drive, and mascot-challenges. So far the Cats are only down by 1 point in the competition.
Fans will have the chance to win with the "Cheer for a Year" promotion. Lucky fans will receive a year's supply of a number of great prizes, Including; McDonalds for a Year, a CAA Membership, a year's supply of Irving Tissue, a Membership to the YMCA and more prizes being added daily. Fans will also have the chance to win $2000 in travel vouchers from the Game Sponsor VIA Rail!
As if the prizes weren't enough, one lucky fan will have the chance to shoot during the intermission for $10,000 through the scoro contest.
The Mortgage Makers Inc. have provided tickets to families in need through Headstart and the Sue Stultz Turkey Drive.
Wild Willie has been training hard all year for the Mascot Challenges. In Saint John he lost to the Sea Dogs Mascot "Fleaburn" under suspicious circumstances. He's geared up and will be in competition mode as he competes during the 2nd intermission on New Year's Eve.
The New Year's Game is also the final food-drive for the Wildcats, which plays a factor in the Rivalry Cup. Fans are strongly encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to the Game. Apart from helping the hungry in our community every fan who brings an item will have the opportunity to try their luck in the treasure chest contest where tickets for the entire remainder of the season will be won.
Excitement will be in the air at the Coliseum on New Year's Eve. Free Face painting, Clowns, and Buskers will be adding to the atmosphere. The game also marks the finale of the Art-on-Ice program which supports community school breakfast programs. A special prize for the 2010th person through the door will make one fan's night and there are many surprises in store for those who come.
Special family packs are available and individual tickets are on-sale now through the Coliseum box office at 506-857-4100 and online through www.moncton-wildcats.com.
