Calgary Roughnecks News Release

The Calgary Roughnecks answered the bell in a must win game to end the regular season in style at the Pengrowth Saddledome defeating the league leading Buffalo Bandits 16-14 in front of a season high 13,869 Friday night.

The win dramatically increases the Roughnecks chances of making the club’s first ever playoff appearance. A loss by the Colorado Mammoth, Philadelphia Wings or Vancouver Ravens will punch the ‘Riggers post season ticket.

Sean Cable led the Roughnecks attack with four goals and an assist while Curtis Palidwor regained his form turning away 45 Buffalo shots en route to the Roughnecks ninth win of the season.

“We came out and took it to them tonight. Everyone talks about what a physical team they are and how they intimidate their opposition with their tough style of play,” said Roughnecks head coach Chris Hall.

“Tonight we turned the tables and knocked them around, our team play was excellent and we showed ourselves just how good we can be.

Tracey Kelusky continued to be a force for the ‘Riggers recording three goals and adding four assists in the win.

“Tonight was our night, the fans were amazing, that is as loud as any building I’ve ever been in for a lacrosse game,” said the Roughnecks captain.

The Roughnecks will now have to sit back and watch the scoreboard to find if they will get a helping hand into the National Lacrosse League playoffs.

“What a great way to finish a great season. On behalf of the Roughnecks organization I would like to thank our fans for embracing this team,” said Roughnecks general manager, Brad Banister.
