Rienzo Activated off Disabled List

WINSTON-SALEM, NC (JULY 25, 2011) - The Winston-Salem Dash announced today that RHP Andre Rienzo has been activated off the disabled list. LHP Santos Rodriguez (left arm) and RHP Stephen Sauer (right shoulder) have both been placed on the disabled list.

Rienzo was placed on the DL on July 8 with right biceps tendonitis after leaving the game on July 7 against Myrtle Beach in the second inning. He ended up getting the loss after allowing four runs on four hits. Rienzo was 2-4 with a 3.83 ERA in 17 starts and was the Dash's lone pitcher on the Carolina League All-Star team. Coming into the season he was ranked as the 25th best prospect in the Chicago White Sox organization by Baseball America

Sauer joined the Dash on July 6 after spending the first part of the season in extended spring training in Arizona while recovering from a right shoulder impingement. With the Dash he went 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA in five appearances.

Rodriguez is in his second year with the Dash. He started the season in the bullpen, but because of injuries was put into the starting rotation. Overall, he was 2-3 with a 3.46 ERA in 31 appearances. In five starts this year, Rodriguez was 0-2 and had a 3.14 ERA. He came into the season ranked by Baseball America as the 12th best prospect in the White Sox organization.

The Dash roster remains at 24 players, one below the Carolina league limit.
