Frisco RoughRiders News Release

FRISCO, TEXAS - On Ghostbusters Tribute Night, the Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, had an early lead busted by the visiting San Antonio Missions in a 4-3 loss Friday night in front of 10,245 fans at Dr Pepper Ballpark.

The RoughRiders got off to a great start, scoring all three of their runs in the first inning. After an RBI single from Ryan Cordell and a run-scoring groundout from Ronald Guzman, Joe Jackson drove in a run with a single to give Frisco (52-52 overall, 14-21 second half) a 3-1 lead.

Riders starter Luis Ortiz worked two innings in a shortened start coming off the disabled list. He allowed a run and struck out four. David Perez followed with two scoreless innings, also striking out four.

The Missions (40-65, 18-17) surged ahead in the fifth against reliever Richelson Pena (2-1), who took the loss. Chase Jensen homered on the first pitch of the inning, and Nick Schulz and Nick Torres drove in runs later in the inning to put the Missions in front 4-3.

After five innings from starter Walker Lockett (2-1), San Antonio used four relievers to close out the final four innings. Jimmy Brasoban worked a scoreless ninth inning and struck out the side around a single to earn his second save. Missions pitching kept the Riders to one hit - a ninth-inning single by Jackson - over the final 5 2/3 innings.

In addition to Ortiz, Perez, and Pena, the RoughRiders also used pitchers Jefri Hernandez and Ryne Slack. As a staff, the Riders combined for 11 strikeouts, the eighth time Frisco pitchers have struck out 10 or more Missions in the first 22 meetings between the two sides.
