'Riders Shut out RockHounds

FRISCO, TEXAS- The RoughRiders only needed two runs to defeat the RockHounds shutting out Midland Thursday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark.
Frisco put the two runs on the board in the second inning. Midland starter Sonny Gray (5-8) induced a ground out before bringing up Jared Hoying. Hoying hit a double to left field. With a man in scoring position, Jared Prince singled up the middle plating Hoying. Prince moved to second on a wild pitch and moved to third on a ground out. Val Majewski then doubled to center scoring Prince. A fly out by Jose Felix ended the inning and the scoring as neither team allowed another run to cross the plate.
Frisco Carlos Pimentel pitched three scoreless innings before Mark Lowe came in to pitch the fourth. In his third outing since rehabbing in Frisco, Lowe pitched two shutout innings. He led off the inning by allowing a double to Matt Rizzotti and walking Josh Horton. He then retired the next six Midland batters in order.
'Riders reliever Miguel De Los Santos (2-2) was brought on in relief in the sixth. He sat the RockHounds down three innings in a row before Ross Wolf was brought in to finish the game. Wolf pitched a hitless ninth sealing another Frisco win.
Miguel De Los Santos picks up his second win of the season pitching for three innings allowing one hit and no runs while walking none and striking out five. Sonny Gray is tagged with his eighth loss of the season pitching for six innings allowing four hits and two runs while walking two and striking out four.
Frisco travels to San Antonio to play game one against the Mission on Friday night. Wilfredo Boscan (4-4, 4.27) gets the start for the RoughRiders. He will be opposed by right-handed hurler Adys Portillo (0-2, 12.15). First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. and can be heard on 1630 KKGM or on ridersbaseball.com. Pre-game coverage begins at 6:30.
