
Riders Fall to Lancers

Council Bluffs, Iowa- Ryan Raven scored two goals and the host Omaha Lancers defeated the RoughRiders 4-1 Sunday evening.
Raven opened the scoring with a power play goal at 7:13 of the first period. At 4:25 of the third period, Raven capped off the Omaha effort with a goal that extended the Lancer lead to 4-1.
The Riders had responded to Raven's opening salvo with a power play goal of their own at 8:28 of the opening period. Phil Axtell buried the rebound after Omaha goaltender Michael Spillane (21 saves) stopped a Nik Sellers shot.
From there, however, the Lancers would string together three unanswered goals.
Robby Dee crashed the net to put Omaha back on top at 17:09 of the first.
Brett Bruneteau's tip in extended the lead to 3-1 at the 11:21 mark of the second period and left it to Raven to put the game beyong the Riders' reach in the third.
