
Riders Fall 7-4 to Amarillo

AMARILLO, Texas - The Frisco RoughRiders were toppled 7-4 on Friday night by the Amarillo Sod Poodles from HODGETOWN.
The RoughRiders (42-28) struck first in the first inning when Josh Jung lined an RBI single to left, scoring Josh Stowers.
Frisco extended their lead in the second with a Matt Whatley RBI single, making it 2-0.
Amarillo (29-40) countered in the third with a Jancarlos Cintron solo home run and they tied the game in the fourth with a Luis Basabe RBI double.
In the sixth, the Sod Poodles took the lead on a two-run double from Osvaldo Abreu and added on with two more runs in the seventh inning to nab a 6-2 advantage.
After a Steele Walker two-run Little League home run in the eighth made it 6-4 Amarillo, the Sod Poodles answered on an RBI groundout from Abreu in the bottom of the inning.
Sal Mendez (3-2) took the loss for the RoughRiders, allowing four runs in relief.
Amarillo starter Matt Tabor (3-4) took the win, ceding just two runs over his six frames of work.
The RoughRiders and Sod Poodles meet again for game five of the six-game set on Saturday, July 24th at 7:05 p.m. Frisco will turn to RHP A.J. Alexy (3-1, 1.55) while Amarillo hands the ball to RHP Ryne Nelson (0-1, 4.34).
